Block by Block Organizing Committee (BBBON)
BBBON was formed in 2010 out of the successful campaign for progressive mayor Jean Quan of Oakland. It has continued as a city wide district-based organization that endorses and participates in local elections. We work on local Oakland issues such as homelessness, affordable housing, sanctuary for immigrants, and police commission. Recently we helped to elect three new city council candidates who have become part of a new six vote majority on the Council, providing a stronger voice for neighborhoods in the housing crisis. In the coming year electing a progressive school board is the main goal of BBBON. Meanwhile we serve on the Coordinating Committee of Wellstone to speak to Oakland issues.
