Racial and Criminal Justice Committee

Our committee is part of the Racism & Criminal Justice Reform Group (RCJR), which includes activists from several other progressive organizations such as Berkeley Community Safety Coalition, Berkeley NAACP, ACLU, Friends of Adeline, and more. We focus mostly on the local level but to some extent on the state and federal levels. Our meetings are a great way to keep informed about developments, strategies, and actions in this whole arena, and you can participate further in particular campaigns and actions to the degree you choose.

Our current activism centers mainly on Berkeley, but some members also are active on issues concerning Oakland and Alameda County. We are very involved in various efforts at criminal justice reform/reimagining/transformation from an antiracist standpoint.

We usually meet on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of each month, 7:00-8:30 p.m., on Zoom, but check with the Committee Representative to confirm the dates, or to be added to our active members email list, or simply for further information: Rivka Polatnick,
