Wellstone Club Meeting on Thursday, Feb. 27, 2025

Dear Ann,

The opening weeks of Trump 2.0 have featured an onslaught of attacks via executive orders and an administrative coup led by Musk designed to implement key features of Project 2025. Progressives are starting to respond: with immediate actions to pressure Congressional Democrats to hold the line, with longer term plans to win back the House in 2026, with plans to protect vulnerable groups. Please join Wellstone members to discuss how we can best oppose these moves by MAGA while building the power to break the Republican trifecta.

The evening will include a panel discussing the growing responses to Trump 2.0:

  • Block & Build: An overview of Trump 2.0 and the response. Max Elbaum, Convergence.
  • Organizing to stop MAGA takeover of federal government. Ted Lam, Indivisible East Bay.
  • Wisconsin Supreme Court Spring election: Slowing Autocracy at the state level. Cheryl Fippen, Indivisible Berkeley Election Alums.
  • North Carolina – Stop Republicans from throwing out 60,000 ballots. Carolina Federation.
  • Flipping Control of the House – Winning in the Central Valley. Mary Boergers, CD22 Focus Action Network

We’ll also hear about the Working Families Party and consider whether Wellstone should affiliate. We encourage every member to take a look at this slide show WFP put together for an introduction to the purpose and goals of the organization.
