Unseat a Tea Partier; State Controller Endorsements; and Middle East Geopolitics

Thursday, February 27, 2014
6:45 PM – 9:00 PM
Humanist Hall, 390 27th St., Oakland, CA

In a tightly packed meeting this month, the club introduces Mike Eggman, the Democratic challenger to the Central Valley’s current Tea Party congressman. Then hear from our State Controller candidates Betty Yee and John Perez before an update on Middle-East geopolitics from region expert Conn Hallinan.

Introducing Mike Eggman, running to unseat a Tea Party incumbent

Mike is the Democratic candidate running against Tea Party incumbent Jeff Denham in the 10th Congressional District in the Central Valley around Tracy. In 2012, many Wellstone Club members worked for Jose Hernandez in this district. Jose lost very narrowly. Mike can win this time. Organizing support for him is an opportunity to help shift the balance in Congress.

We host a fundraiser for him on Wednesday, February 19th.

Endorsement Vote For State Controller

  • Betty Yee, State Insurance Commissioner and member of the State Board of Equalization
  • John Perez, Assemblymember and current Speaker of the Assembly
