Communications Coordinator Job Description, 6/18/2019

Please Circulate Widely!

The Wellstone Democratic Renewal Club (WDRC) is looking for a tech-savvy political activist to serve as its Communications Coordinator.

The WDRC is a Democratic Party Club that was founded in 2003 and has a membership of approximately 350. We are an activist organization with a consistent history of anti-war and social justice engagement. The WDRC closely collaborates with the major social justice organizations and movements in the East Bay. Many of our members participate actively in these movements. We occupy a distinctive niche that bridges grass roots social activism with Democratic Party electoral politics. Our mission is two-fold:

  1. We support candidates for local, statewide, and national office who will advance a broad social justice agenda that arises from and grows social movements (such as for climate, economic, immigrant rights, racial, gender and sexual justice as well as opposition to militaristic foreign and domestic policies.)
  2. We bring these social justice issues into the structure of the Democratic Party to promote them within the established political agenda.

The position of Communications Coordinator is both political and technical.

The Communications Coordinator will be a member of the club’s Coordinating Committee, expected to attend the monthly CC and Club meetings and to participate in developing the club’s political direction and priorities.

The Communications Coordinator will be responsible for updating the club website (, composing and sending our email newsletter (Constant Contact) 2/3 times per month, promoting the club’s activities in social media (including updates on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram) and engaging our members and supporters via the Action Network.

A major goal of this effort is to bring younger, diverse members and leaders to the club so that a younger generation of activists can inherit and transform the unique political niche that the club pioneered. We anticipate that the position will require approximately 10 hours per month and are prepared to pay up to $500/month to the right person.
